Early Medieval (Anglo-Scandinavian)? copper alloy buckle, 44mm long, 27mm wide and 3mm thick with a weight of 9.50grams. The object is sub rectangular in form and cross section. It consists of a poorly cast rectangular loop, which would attach the buckle to a strap. This has two very short right angled projections at the centre of one long end. These flank a short recessed rectangular section, with iron staining, which forms the pin attachment. At this point it joins the rest of the object, which is circular in form. The object consists of an oval buckle loop with a circular cross section which is attached to a rectangular plate. There is a small hole at the end of the plate which houses the tapering buckle pin. Post medieval copper alloy buckle, 77mm long, 55mm wide and 2mm thick with a weight of 37.47grams. The buckle is rectangular in form and cross section and has a central strap bar. It is decorated with a double incised border with a foliate central pattern. In each corner the decoration is arranged so it cuts across the next side and each corner has a rounded depression which gives the impression of a rectangle formed by folding a decorated strip. Given its size its probably an elaborate hat or shoe buckle.

Medieval copper alloy buckle plate, 19mm long, 18mm wide, 4mm thick, and weighing 27grams. The object is rectangular in form and section and has a circular fixing hole in each corner. One end has a recessed rectangular projection with a central rectangular cut out. This has been folded over to form a hinge fitting and this is attached by two rivets fixed into the closest corner holes. On the upper surface of the plate, the rivets are surrounded by heavy gilding.

The buckle has a slightly flared rounded loop with a scalloped outer edge and it has a recessed pin bar complete withh pin. The buckle still has a semi-circular plate attached which is formed of two plates, one slightly largre than the other, rivetteed in place with three rivets. The plate is plain except for an incised outer border and has traces of gilding.

It has slightly convex sides which project slightly past the pin rest - this suggests there may have been a roller sheet attached to this. There is a plain rectangular plate, attached by a fold around the pin bar. This has a circular hole to accomodate the pin, which is circular cross- sectioned.

It has a slightly recessed straight pin bar and the opposing side has a widened surface formed of four domed areas separated by ridges forming a pin rest. Similar buckles are dated to 1250-1400 in Egan and Pritchard (1991).

Medieval copper alloy oval loop buckle. 26mm long, 28mm wide and 4mm thick with a weight of 3.58grams. The buckle has curved ends and an offset straight strap bar. The outer ornate edge consists of a wide rectangular bar with two outer lobed knops with four transverse ridges filling the centre. There are small patches of tinning on the upper surface. The buckle is a common form dating to 1250-1400, Cf. Whithead 2001, p. 22.
