Early Medieval copper alloy buckle fragment, 23mm long, 14mm wide and 4mm thick with a weight of 2.91grams. The object consists of a semi-circular cross sectioned shaft, forming a tongue, with a downwards curving, tapering end. This sits below a raised rectangular frame with rounded upper edge and tapering sides, known as a 'violin ' shaped setting. This would have contained a stone or glass inlay which is now missing. This is surrounded by a flat plate the same shape which is c. 3mm wide and is gilded on most of its surface, as is the outer edge of the frame. The reverse of this has …

Late Medieval copper alloy stirrup shaped buckle frame, 27mm long, 17mm wide and 4mm thick with a weight of 1.51 g. The buckle is a single loop, D-shaped buckle with decorative knop extending from the curved edge. The knop has a single narrow collar and is flat on the reverse side. The strap bar is recessed and the pin is missing. Similar to DENO-08D511. Several similar examples are illustrated in the Meols report (Griffiths et al. 2007, 94, no.622ff).

Medieval copper alloy buckle with integral frame, 48mm long, 23mm wide and 4mm thick with a weight of 7.05grams . The buckle is oval in form and has a rectangular cross section, its only decoration is a protruding triangular pin rest. The loop is attached to two tapering rectangular cross sectioned prongs, placed either side of the pin recess. These would have held a decorated plate, the object dates to 1250-1450.

The object consisist of a circular cross sectioned circular loop with a D cross sectioned pin wrapped around the frame. The frame is large and has no restriction for a pin. Consequently, it has been classified as a buckle rather than a brooch (Egan and Pritchard 1991: 57).

Late Early Medieval copper alloy buckle, 19mm long, 16mm wide and 4mm thick with a weight of 3.97grams. The buckle is D shaped and has a sub-circular cross section. It is in poor condition but consists of a plain band which terminates with animal heads resting on a recessed integral pin bar. The animal heads are distinctively 'Scandinavian' in character with long snouts, rounded ears and traces of almond shaped eyes. Other examples of this type can be seen at NLM-3D5F37 LVPL-3B6EFF YORYM-971456 all are very indistinct in their casting.

Medieval copper alloy buckle fragment, 24mm long, 14mm wide and 10mm thick with a weight of 5.23grams. The object consists of the pin rest portion of a probably rectangular frame. It has a rectangular cross section and is decorated with a series of transverse depressions. There is a central one, forming the pin rest, which is flanked closely by two more. Each edge has a further depression before its rounded corners. What is present suggests that the buckle frame from this point is much narrower and rectangular in section.

The buckle is D shaped and consists of a flat wide semi-circular plate, which tapers in at each end and is joined to a pin bar by a slight recessed terminal.
