A copper alloy hinged bow and fantail brooch of 1st to 2nd century AD date. The bow is plane, the sub-triangular fantail at the foot is decorated with a raised scroll motif containing traces of blue and red enamel. There is a damaged loop on the head. There is some damage to the catchplate. Length: 35.0mm, width: 19.0mm, thickness: 13.0mm, weight: 6.61g

Early medieval gilt copper alloy saucer brooch, 500-600AD. The brooch is 33mm in diameter and 3mm thick. The front of the brooch has a band of disjointed Style I animals around a central boss, and is flat with a raised lip forming the characteristic 'saucer' shape. The reverse is undecorated and a projecting pin housing or part of a catch-plate remains. Close to where the other part of the pin attachment would have been, the object has a very regular circular hole pierced through, midway between the centre and the edge; this is probably a repair. Roman copper alloy Colchester one-piece brooch, 58mm long, 21mm wide and 10mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 12.77grams. The brooch consists of a narrow rectangular bar which holds a spring of seven coils. This sits on top of a circular sectioned bow which tapers in width to a point. The brooch has part of an openwork catchplate c.20mm long. The brooch is similar to eg 1455, fig 156 in Hattatt, R. A visual catalogue of ancient brooches.

Roman copper alloy headstud brooch, 43mm long, 16mm wide and 17mm deep. The brooch is in fair condition and weighs 8.6grams. It is mising its pin but some of the uncoiled spring was retrieved with the item. It consists of short rectangular wings with stepped vertical lines which sit beside a rectangular sectioned bow. This is decorated with a riase circular stud which sits above a row of rectangular enamel cells with traces of red enamel. This sits above a stepped foot and in front of a triangular catchplate.

Roman copper-alloy Colchester derivative double lug type brooch. The object consists of semi-circular sectioned plain wings which are missing the spring. The bow is rectangular in section ans quite flat, with a wide central ridge running its length. Near the top emerges a further rounded ridge which forms a spring loop at its terminal. The catchplate is triangular in form, has ridged edges and a central circular hole. It is 39mm long, 19mm wide and 12mm thick and weighs 6.23g. The brooch is similar to Hattatt 1458, Pl.156.

Roman copper alloy bow brooch, 45mm long, 37mm wide and 16mm thick. The brooch is in fair condition with a brownish patina and weighs 14.10grams. The brooch appears to be a Colchester type which has been modified as the bottom half of the bow tapers sharply inwards as though it has been shortened. The brooch consists of wide solid wings which have a semi-circular section and are decorated with Vertical incised lines at their edges.
