Roman copper alloy bow brooch, 33mm long, 18mm wide and 8mm thick with a weight of 4.71g. The brooch has short circular cross sectioned wings which contain the remains of an iron rod and which would have housed a hinged pin (now missing). It has a plain semi-circular cross sectioned tapering bow which is missing its base and has the scars of a large openwork catch plate on its reverse, which would have taken up two thirds of the bows length.

Roman copper alloy headstud brooch, 23mm long, 15mm wide and 8mm thick with a weight of 4.88g. The brooch is in poor condition and incomplete. It has narrow rectangular shaped and cross sectioned wings which house a hinged pin recess (pin now missing) and sit behind a rectangular cross sectioned bow. This has a raised circular motif at its shoulder just above a sharp turn in the bow, which is missing its base.

The shaft is D shaped in cross section with an acanthus scroll at the curved shoulder which is flanked by a raised triple collar above and below. The brooch is missing its foot and catch-plate.

Medieval copper alloy disc on pin buckle pin, 27mm in length, 17mm wide and 4mm thick with a weight of 3.45grams. The buckle pin is circular in form and rectangular in cross section. It consists of a pin with a circular plate in its centre and this has four sub-spherical projections riveted onto it. At opposing ends are two projections. One forms a partial loop to attach to the buckle loop and the other the tapering pin. Redmayne type A4.

Medieval copper alloy zoomorphic buckle. 30mm in length, 23mm wide and 11mm thick with a weight of 14.27g. The object is sub rectangular in form and cross section and takes the form of a backwards facing dog or lion. It has a thin body with pronounced shoulders and thighs. It has very worn decoration around its neck, suggesting a mane. Its legs are joined in pairs with the feet only de-marked by a linear depression on the base. The two pairs of legs are joined by a flat bar across the base. This holds a very corroded iron pin which runs up to the animals shoulder. Good examples…

Roman copper alloy trumpet bow brooch, 40mm in length, 14mm wide and 6mm thick with a weight of 6.50g. The brooch has a semi-circular, incomplete headplate, behind which are two semi-circular projections holding a bar to house the spring of four coils. The D cross sectioned bow emerges from the front of this and curves. At this point it has four raised thin bands filling nearly half its length. Roman copper alloy knee brooch, AD 100-200, Length: 33 mm, width: 18 mm, thickness: 8 mm, weight: 10.92 g. The brooch is complete except for its spring, pin and catchplate. It has semi-circular cross sectioned, rectangular shaped open wings. These sit above a rectangular cross sectioned, curved bow. This is swollen where it curves, giving it the distinctive shape of this type. The bow then narrows before splaying out into a sub rectangular foot. Similar to fig. 194, e.g. 479 in Hattatt, R. It has a circular cross section and terminates with an acorn shaped finial which consists of a raised rounded band with diagonal incisions sitting below a smaller rounded terminal. The seal is incomplete and has a pointed oval form with a rectangular cross section.
