It has a central circular hole 4 mm in diameter. The form of the object suggests it could be a poorly made spindle whorl which would match Walton Rogers form A1, but the hole is quite small so perhaps a flat wight is a more probable identification?

The whorl has unusual decoration, having a slightly raised lip on the outer edge of each surface. Sitting within this is a series of raised open circles on both faces. The form matches Walton Rogers type B, dating it from 900-1200.
