The object is 'heart' shaped (triangular with a double curved upper edge) with a rectangular cross section. The pointed part terminates in a flat acorn shaped knop. One one face the the foot is decorated with a central triangular cross sectioned ridge running vertically towards its lower edge which extends forwards to form a splayed triangular cross sectioned foot. The matrix consists of a triangular shaped, hexagonal cross sectioned shaft which terminates with a raised rounded collar sitting below the now incomplete suspension loop. Medieval copper alloy harness hook, 66mm long, 11mm wide and thick and weighing 19.78grams. The object consists of a circular cross-sectioned 'conical' terminal which has a zoomorphic head, suggestive of a dog. Protruding from the base of the terminal is a circular cross-sectioned shaft which tapers slightly in width and becomes flatter. This has a slight bend to it, other examples found have the shaft formed into a hook. A similar example, with gilding was found in Gilmorton, Leics. see LEIC-B07231. The object is 'shield' shaped being triangular with two curving long edges. The upper straight edge has a rectangular suspension hole in its centre and the object has a rectangular cross-section. It is stepped, with a slightly smaller upper surface and this is decorated with a lion, possibly rampant, though this is hard to confirm.
