An incomplete copper-alloy object, possibly a key handle and probably medieval or post-medieval in date. The object comprises a circular loop, which is rectangular in section. At one end, the loop is stepped and from this step there extends a circular-section lug which appears to be broken. At the other, it extends to form a rectangular-section stem, decorated with two bands of horizontal grooves flanking a vertical rib. The stem appears to be hollow but is filled with iron corrosion products. It measures 31mm in length and is 18mm in diameter at the loop. The width of the stem is 7mm.

A patch of white metal coating or tinning or adheres to part of the stem. The object measures 42mm in length, 30mm in width and a maximum of 4mm in thickness.

The wings consist of a horizontal sub-rectangular bar beneath two perforated lugs which would have held in place the now-missing spring.
