A copper-alloy 'Ship penny' jetton produced by Hans Schultes III in Nuremberg between 1608 and 1612. Mitchiner (1988) refers to his ship penny jettons on p.411, no.1, but does not illustrate an example and refers to Barnard (1981) who illustrates a very similar jetton on p.210, pl.XXIX, no.13, which according to Mitchiner is attributed to Hans Schultes III.

Post Medieval copper alloy Mercury Bust jetton issued by Wolf Laufer II (1612-1651). The design of the observe shows Mercury facing left wearing winged helmet. The obverse inscription reads. *WOLF LAV[FER IN N]VRNBERG REC. Reverse design of Imperial orb surmounted by cross patty, within a tressure with three main arches. The inscription on the reverse reads *ANFANG.BENDENKS.ENDT. It appears to be of the rose and orb type with the orb in tressure design on the obverse and three crowns alternating with three fleurs de lis on the reverse. The inscriptions are very worn but the end of the reverse legend: *HANNS [KRAVWIN]CKEL IN NV (which is normally the obverse legend) is NV, suggesting that the obverse legend is probably GOTES SEGEN MACHT REIC. Copper alloy jetton of Louis XIV of France (1643-1715). Produced by Wolf Laufer II (1612-1651) in Nuremberg from 1643 to 1650. There are three examples in Mitchiner all from the same die (1988, nos. 1734-1735). It has been perforated for suspension in the post medieval period and the hole is 3 mm in diameter. The inscriptions are fictitious, and illegible on the obverse but the reverse reads: +[MEL] BODVL BODV [...] which matches well with anonymous Nuremberg stock jettons illustrated in Mitchener (1988) on page 361, nos.1103-1104, which date from c.1500-1570.

The lion is nimbate but the halo breaks the inner circle and there appears to be two rosettes, one in front of each claw, on the obverse. The imperial orb surmounted by a cross on the reverse has two pairs of annulets outside each of the upper two arches in the tressure. The initial mark is a rosette on the obverse and a crown on the reverse. Mitchiner 1120. The inscriptions are fictitious, but the obverse reads: HIOHRTONVHTORNVHI, and the reverse is more worn.

Copper alloy ship penny jetton, anonymous issue, c.1490-1550. The obverse design of the Nuremberg 'ship penny' jettons came from 15th-century local issues struck for the Municipality of Paris. The reverse came from other French prototypes issued during the period c.1461-1497. Nuremberg mint. Mitchiner 1169. The jetton has since been bored with a nail within one edge, perhaps perforated for suspension, during the Post-medieval period, as has another ship penny jetton illustrated in Mitchiner (1988) on page 375, No.1186.
