A medieval coin; a contemporary imitation of an Irish cut half penny of Henry III. The legends do not appear to match the known coins of the Dublin mint and imitations of this time are relatively common. The reverse may read [ ]OIN - NDE, with N ligatured to the D - in imitation of the ONLV - NDE element of genuine London issues. Imitations often use elements of more than one coin when creating designs. Moneyers named Leofstan are known at twelve mints in Aethelraed's region, and in the Long Cross type for three: Canterbury, London and York.
