S Menzel 2004, Cobs, Pieces of Eight and Treasure Coins: the early Spanish-American Mints and their coinages 1536-1773 (New York, American Numismatic Society).
The coin appears to made of pewter. Consquently it may be a fake or a replica!

A complete silver half cruzado (200-reis) of King John IV of Portugal ('o Restaurador', 1640-56), presumably minted at Lisbon.
The countermark on the reverse '250' relates to a revaluation under John IV's successor, Afonso VI ('o Vitorioso', 1656-67), brought on by the cost of wars against Spain. (Portugal had been under Spain from 1580 until 1640.). Decree of 22 March 1663 increased face value of silver coins by 25%.
