A 17th century halfpenny token. The token is inscribed *EDWARD·BEVAN· on the obverse, ·OF·MONMOVTH around the edge of the reverse and HIS HALF PENY in three lines in the centre of the reverse with EBE clockwise in a triangle from bottom left. This halfpenny was therefore issued by Edward Bevan, a tallow chandler in Monmouth, portrayed on the obverse as a man dipping two candles. It is undated, but is from the 1660's.
