~~This is a copper alloy Anglo-Scandinavian harness cheek piece fragment showing a stylised animal that depicts the head and neck of a beast right, the head is curved backwards in a tight C-shaped to look back over its body. At the terminal of the 'C' is an inwardly projecting sub-rectangular tab that forms the snout of the beast. Above the snout, at the terminal of the C, is a projecting semicircle for the brow. Further smaller knops are found on the spine of the beast with two larger examples at the base of the curve, this area is also wider and may have formed the body of the beast…

Iron knife. The first portion of the handle is made from solid iron which is octagonal in cross-section and gently expands from the blade for 18mm, after this point the base of a narrow tang (only 6cm remains) prudes from the centre sown that about two thirds of the handle would have been made from an organic substance. Only 10mm of the bladed remains, this is heavily corroded rendering any identification impossible.

Sheet copper alloy dagger scabbard chape. This example is made from a plain copper alloy sheet, about 1mm thick, that has been folded into a conical shape; the edges have been overlapped and soldered together although the current form has been squashed and distorted. This is a simple chape with undecorated walls and rim. The bottom edge has been folded to create a rounded base. A square copper-alloy Post Medieval coin weight, made in Antwerp. The Obverse has a seated lion facing left, flanked by pillars with three arches above and floor below. The reverse depicts an upright right hand for Antwerp and flanked by the initials HF for Hans Foncq. There is a number 8 or 9 above the H and a 4 above the F which indicate the date (possibly 1584 or 1594).

Copper alloy book clasp. This example is rectangular in plan with an expanded butt; the forward edge has a narrowed tab that has been bent around to form a hook (mostly truncated). The item is decorated with a series of curvilinear vines on the forward half, the rear half is undecorated. There is a single rivet hole towards the rear of the item. Artefacts such as this have been discovered during excavation in York which dated to the 15th and 16th centuries (Ottaway & Rogers, 2002, 2937-2939).

Copper alloy hooked tag. This has an oval concavo-convex plate with a concave notch on the top edge, the bottom edge is extended and curved round to form a penannular loop (now truncated). There are two rivet holes on the centre of the plate; both are encrusted in iron corrosion which is the remains of the iron rivets.

Copper alloy composite strap end that is made from two sheet plates that sandwich a forked spacer. The overall shape is rectangular with a low pointed forwarded edge that ends in an acorn knop terminal. There is a copper alloy rivet on the forward edge securing the three elements together and a single rivet hole (missing the rivet) at the rear for attachment.

An incomplete post-medieval lead-alloy button that is missing its iron wire loop on the reverse, only the corroded base of the wire remains. The button has a low hemispherical profile, the face of which is decorated with a cross that has a recessed lozenge shaped cell in each arm and a pellet in each angle.
