A Post Medieval finger ring made in gold, dating to the 17th century. The external surface is decorated with a cast pattern of alternate hearts and anchors(?). There seems to be the remains of a black material in the lower sections of the pattern. An inscription has been engraved on the internal surface. The inscription reads, "Wheare this I giv[e]". The ring is broken and is now opened so that it lies flat. Evans (1931:108) lists a more complete version of this posy as "Wheare this I give I wish to live". In the absence of a datable maker's mark we cannot confirm that this …

A complete Post Medieval copper alloy finger ring (late 17th - 18th century). Curator's report: A plain yellow metal ring with inscription inside. There is a break in the ring and part of the text may be missing. What is legible appears to read ' . . . v Love I til I die'. This may be a version of inscriptions recorded by Joan Evans, such as 'Love as I or else I die', or 'I live if aye, if no I die', or 'I live in love until I die'. Similar inscriptions seem to have been in use from the 17th century onwards. The style of lettering on this ring could be late 17th or 18th century.

The plain thin gold band is engraved on the exterior with a skull and inscribed inside in lower case: 'Remember to dye', with a maker's mark GB in a quatrefoil shield with a pellet above and below.
