Head and upper part of bow of a Roman copper alloy Trumpet brooch of Mackreth 2011 TR 1.2b1. There is a horizontal tubular attachment for a hinged pin on the reverse, with remains of the pin loop visible in a central slot and held in place by an axis bar. On the front one speck of probably red enamel remains within a decorative arrangement which is very close to that on Mackreth 2011, 119, pl. 80 nos. 4934 and 11826. The old break lies above the base of the head where there would have been transverse ribbed mouldings. Extant length 18.4mm. Width 17.8mm. c.75 - c.200.

Rather abraded post-medieval end cap of a scale-tang knife with the remains of the terminal of the iron tang set into a slot. Two lateral projections were probably animal heads but most of their surface detail has been lost. On one face there are slight traces of an engraved saltire. SF6714 and YORYM-A65069 are very similar in form and both are decorated with a saltire on both faces. Length 16.8mm. Width 22.7mm. Thickness 9.2mm. 16th century

Incomplete Roman copper alloy British flat discoidal plate brooch in exceptionally abraded condition, with all surfaces, almost all of the the edge, parts of the double pin lug, almost all of the catchplate, most of the spring, the pin and all enamel inlay (apart from dark material in the central round cell) missing. A barely discernible ring of reserved dots within a ring of zigzags show this to be of Mackreth 2011 2.c and very close to plate 105 no. 10635. Diameter 21mm. 2nd - 3rd century.

The weight, 24.21g / 373.6 grains, finds no match in the avoirdupois, troy or apothecaries' systems, but is very close to the Scandinavian system of 24.4 +/- 0.8g. Mid 9th - mid 11th century.
