Medieval or post-medieval hooked gilt copper alloy mount comprising four annulets around a square central perforation, and with projecting fillets in the interstices defined by cast and/or engraved lines, two oblique opposed examples of which are pierced (one broken) for missing rivets. The stump of a broken probable hook projects from the outer edge of one annulet. The face is moulded, the reverse is flat. Extant length 42mm. Width 35.5mm. 1mm thick, 2.2mm at broken projection. Weight 0.148g. c. 13th-16th century.

Medieval whittle-tang knife end-cap of sheet folded, butt-jointed and soldered into a sub-rectangular sectioned tube, the convex broad faces have engraved scrolling foliate decoration framed by longitudinal bordering lines. One end of the tube flares outwards and would have been closed by an additional sheet, now missing. Similar objects have been recorded by the PAS: Englefield, Berkshire (BERK-D63307), Cerne Abbas, Dorset (SOMDOR-B64288 in lead alloy), and two from the City of London (LON-D11F23, and LON-AA1F08, lead alloy).
