Medieval cast copper-alloy shield-shaped mount with a single, integrally cast, spike for attachment projecting from the centre of the reverse. The front is decorated with a heraldic coat of arms design in enamel. About 60% of the enamel has been lost. The design consists of 6 (or possibly 5) diagonal stripes of alternating blue and ?gold which cover the lower two thirds of the shield and run in the direction top left to lower right.
