PART MAX P M TR P X COS III P P reverse type depicting a trophy between two captive people. The reverse prototype of Septimius is of the Mint of Rome, struck in AD 202, cf. Roman coin: denarius of Septimus Severus (193-211) probably minted in Laodicea, Turkey between 195 and 202 AD. Victory reverse with the legend finishing COS II PP. RIC Vol. IV Part I, p. 155, No. 471 depicts the obverse and reverse of Victory, but no the legend of the reverse. The reverse matches p. 159, No. 499. Possibly a contemporary copy. The coin may have been struck from silver or copper alloy, the surface has a shiny dark grey-black patina.

The coin appears to be possibly a debased silver with a shiny silver surface. The coin is heavily abraded, which may account for for the debased appearence.
