Medieval or Post Medieval (15th to 18th century) possible figurine fragment, probably in the form of a cockerel or hen foot. The foot is in the form of three prongs representing the talons, with the outer two splaying outwards. Behind these is a fourth prong which represents the heel talon. At the junction of all of the talons there is a high relief circular protrusion which may have been cylindrical originally. The talons has traces of gilding on the outer surface and the base. Iron Age to Roman (-100 to 200) cosmetic mortar: The copper alloy mortar is slightly crescentic in profile and an elongated pointed oval in plan whose terminals are slightly rounded. In section the mortar has a 'V' shaped section which is deep and tapers in depth towards the terminals. At one terminal there is an integral loop which is moulded and has a small spur. The side faces are undecorated. The surface of the mortar has traces of a light green patina otherwise it is heavily abraded. The seal matrix consists of a flat oval swivelling bezel held in situ. The seal is double sided, depicting a coat of arms on one face and a bird on the other.
