A Medieval copper alloy single looped buckle, probably dating from about AD 1350-1400, of Meols type C.The buckle has a rectangular frame with slightly convex sides and ridges in each corner, the sides being sub-rectangular in cross section. The bar is offset and narrowed, sub-rectangular in cross section, with a central band of wear where the pin (now missing) articulated. The outer edge of the frame is expanded, widening and tapering to a point on the outside edge, creating a sub-triangular cross-section. A near complete Roman dragonesque brooch dating from AD 75 - 175. Only the pin is missing. Yellow and red enamel infill lozenges and triangles arranged in diagonal parallel lines fill the central body panel. Signoid (stylised, flourishing ends) panel at each side of central section. Interstices infilled with red enamel. The chin of one terminal is joined to the body. There is no enamelling on the terminal, just an open hole between the snout and ears. A copper alloy strap fitting of uncertain date, probably Roman, but possibly Early Medieval (AD 43 - 1100). The front is shaped like three connected lozenges arranged next to each other. There is a pronounced central ridge in high relief running across the centre of all three lozenges. This flat plate with the central ridge has a loop projecting from the back. The loop has one surviving and one missing dividing strut to form a triple loop on the reverse. A complete copper alloy Roman brooch, of Thealby Mine type dating from AD 100 - 200. The brooch has a wire head loop, crimped by a band at the base. The band is decorated with three ridges along its length, the middle one beaded. The band if folded round the loop, so the ends meet in the centre at the back. The wire head loop extends into the ends of the wings and also forms the axis bar. The back of the wings are tubular, with a slot to accomodate the hinged copper alloy pin which is also complete. Shallow stirrup shape. Plain hoop with narrow bottom. Broad bezel continuing from hoop. Top bezel has rectangular, deep recess to take intaglio. Rectangular intaglio intact but unattached. Intaglio is deep blue, faced glass, pitted on back from reaction with adhesive. Remains of adhesive in recess- powdered, white, very friable. Copper alloy slightly oxidised, some exfoliation of surface. Dark brown patina most areas.
