An incomplete pendant whetstone of uncertain date. It is formed from a medium to dark grey fine grained and micaceous stone, perhaps a micaceous schist, and is square in section, rectangular in form, terminating in old breaks at one end. The surviving end is triangular in profile with a worn hourglass perforation, an attempted second circular perforation visible on one side of the complete end. A small but complete polished stone axehead of Neolithic date. It is formed from a basic igneous rock that is a very dark almost black colour with occasional pale brown inclusions, probably an olivine with diorites. The axe is roughly triangular in form, oval sectioned with a pointed butt and crescentic cutting edge. It measures 102.82mm in length, 53.87mm in width, 31.96mm in thickness and 229.61g in weight. This is a polished stone axehead of Neolithic date, c.4000-2550 BC.

A worn copper-alloy ring of probable Bronze Age date. It is penannular in form with oval shaped cross section, tapering slightly to the terminal ends that almost meet at the centre of the back(?) face. The exterior surface has moulded decoration comprising two deeply moulded transverse grooves separated by ridges. All surfaces have extensive corrosion and wear with only traces of the dark brown patina surviving and pale green corrosive products evidence on many of the surfaces. An incomplete and small copper-alloy blade of Bronze Age date, probably a knife. Part of the butt end and the blade survive, the tip of both ends missing due to old breaks. A small body fragment of a cast, copper-alloy Sompting socketed axe of early Iron Age date. Only a small sub-rectangular section of the main body of the axe survives with the breaks indicating its fragmentation in antiquity. The reverse is plain but the obverse displays remains of two parallel ribs terminating one pellet-in-circlet each. There are parallels in Pendleton (1999), no. 125 and 130. Five objects which are possibly part of a Late Bronze Age hoard. 1: A roughly wedge-shaped copper-alloy fragment of metal working waste with irregular but relatively angular faces. At least two of the edges appear snapped though all faces are heavily patinated dark greenish-brown. A worked Mesolithic flint tranchet axe formed from a grey flint with stained/patinated mottled white to brown surfaces. It is plano-convex in form and of tranchet type, both faces having all over flake removal and edge retouch. One side has a marked, ridged back and the cutting edge is convex in form with flake removal and edge retouch. The butt end has a small area of cortex remaining. The entire axe measures 122.83mm in length, 48.20mm in width, 30.75mm in thickness and 202.39g in weight. It dates to the Mesolithic period, c.8,300-4,500 BC.

A complete small worked flint chisel of Neolithic date. It is plano-convex in form and struck from a pale grey flint with some darker brown patches. All of the surfaces have retouch and flake removal, additionally the cutting edge and top of the ridge along the upper(?) spine of the object are polished. It measures 105.94mm in length, 35.06mm in width (27.69mm in width at blade end), 22.76mm in thickness, and weighs 86.80g. This is a worked flint chisel dating to the Early Neolithic period, c.3,500-2,900 BC.

Description: A probable plough-dispersed late Bronze Age hoard found in a c 30m radius over a period of some time. 1: A small complete socketed bronze axe head, pale to medium green in colour. The flint is a pale to medium grey colour with rust-red/brown, and mainly linear, iron staining on the prominent flake ridges, in particular on one face. This may be the result of plough damage. Polish is coarse apart from blade end where it is fine. The surface is a mixture of mid brown and grey, possibly partial peat staining. However, one side of the cutting edge has a series of unstained flakes removed at a later date, showing a mid grey flint. A flint handaxe in sharp condition with all-over shallow bifacial retouch, very unifrom slightly pointed oval in shape. Unpatinated or stained and a dark brown/black flint with one plae grey patch near the tip. Length 99mm, width 77mm and maximum thickness is 24mm. This axe looks like a relatively recent product, however no obvious recent flake scar marks are visible, so it has probably been buried for some time.
