An incomplete cast copper-alloy axe or palstave of Bronze Age date. Only the blade end survives, the remainder of the object now missing due to old breaks. It is triangular in profile with a crescentic blade that has some damage to the centre of the cutting edge. The blade projects slightly beyoned the sides of the axe, and both faces of the axe itself are flattened. There is no evidence for a socket in the surviving breaks and the size and flatness of the object suggest it could be either a socketed axe or a palstave. It measures 28.69mm in length, 46.01mm in width, 8.58mm in thicknes…

An assemblage of worked flints from surface survey in an area that has previously produced similar material. A total of 97 flints have been identified as worked amongst a larger assemblage of natural flakes, with a combined total weight of 1724.55g. They have a later Prehistoric date range from the Neolithic through Bronze Age, c.4,000-800 BC. 1. A sub-circular flake core with mainly heat-shattered surfaces dating to the later Prehistoric period. 2. Long natural flint utilised as long flake core with only two flakes removed. It is of later Prehistoric …

Description: A probable plough-dispersed late Bronze Age hoard found in a c 30m radius over a period of some time. 1: A small complete socketed bronze axe head, pale to medium green in colour. This axe head has double socket mouldings but is otherwise plain. There is a small hole, most likely to be a casting flaw, adjoining the loop. The blade edge has some damage and is relatively worn and rather blunt. There are a few use or sharpening marks visible on both faces and these are mostly affected by minor pocking from invasive corrosion. 81mm in length, 47mm in width and 160g in weight …

A large, unpatinated worked flint nodule. It is sub-triangular in section with cortex at the butt end. At the blade end there is evidence of limited edge rotuch and the removal of relatively large flakes, some of which may be the result of plough damage. This is probably a simple core with relatively limited usage. It measures 135.52mm in length, 67.93mm in width, 59.42mm in thickness, and weighs g. This flint nodule was probably worked during the later phases of the Prehistoric period, perhaps c.3,500-1 BC.

A large and complete tranchet type axehead of Mesolithic date. It has patinated and stained surfaces that are mixed grey in colour on one face and mixed brown on the other. The axe is roughly struck, plano-convex in form and with many heavy, large flake scars. The sides and butt end are steeply flaked and the cutting edge has an irregular, convex form. There are areas of cortex visible on both faces, as well as minor plough damage that in places reveals the unpatinated dark grey/black flint beneath the surface. An unpatinated leaf-shaped biface struck from dark brown flint and with extensive edge retouch and flake removal on both faces. It is possibly snapped at one end, although the breaks have partial retouch, so this remains uncertain. The object is slightly large for a leaf-shaped arrowhead and it is therefore possible that this is small a Neolithic 'Laurel Leaf' that is relatively finely worked and perhaps slightly atypical for objects of this type. It measures 51.16mm in length, 40.38mm in width, 5.80mm in thickness, and weighs 14.16g. It is probable that this is a flint 'Laurel …
