A sherd of a Roman amphora. The sherd comes from the shoulder of a vessel and there is a break at one edge where a handle would have extended. It has a hard, smooth fabric with plentiful chalky (<2mm) and sparse mica inclusions (Aa). Both surfaces are an oxidised pale pink-orange in colour and the core is grey. Copper alloy brooch fragment, lion bow type with bull's head. Only most of the lion, bull's head and a fragment of the bow survive; much of the surface is heavily corroded. The fully round lion figure formed the upper part of the bow (the missing back legs would have joined a hinge holding the pin). Copper alloy bracelet fragment, broken both ends. Two decorative elements: a punched dot with double ring (diam c.5mm) and an incised triangle containing three punched dot and circles (diam 2.5mm) are separated by a 3mm wide raised band bisected by a single transverse groove. Width 5mm, surviving length 21mm. From a late Roman type with multiple motifs, not precisely paralled in Lankhills or Colchester (Crummy 1983).

A sherd from the body of an early Roman coarseware storage vessel. The sherd is only slightly curved in profile suggesting a large vessel. The fabric is hard and coarse and is tempered with sparse rounded quartz sand with many irregularly-shaped voids. Copper alloy brooch in the form of a fish. Missing the tail and the fins and pin are damaged; some corrosion and concretion. The pin is sprung between two lugs, 3mm apart. The plate has a slightly convex back, flat front and is 1.5mm thick. The eye is a ring with slight traces of decayed enamel; the cells outlining the body would also have contained enamel but only one tiny fragment, now turquoise, survives in the lower band.
