A copper alloy double looped buckle of Medieval date. The object is rectangular in plan and sub-rectangular in cross-section. The object is centrally curved in profile with recurved ends. Each outside edge of the object has a series of rabbets with four widthways grooves. A very similar example is illustrated by Whitehead (1996, page 77; no. 476), who dates it to the 15th century and suggests it may be a buckle for armour. However, a buckle of similar form is also illustrated by Egan & Pritchard (1991, pages 97-98; no. 443) which was excavated from a context dating from between 127…

Gold medieval love or marriage ring. Very finely engraved with flowers and foliage. Note: This object was recorded over 20 years ago and does not meet the current standard of database records for the Portable Antiquities Scheme. Based on the image provided, the exterior of the ring is inscribed in a black letter script reading: "autre", which is likely part of a larger inscription reading "autre ne vueil", meaning 'desire no other', or "nul autre", meaning 'no other'. The inscription is surrounded by incised foliage. Many thanks to Malcol…

Four disc lead seal, traces of gilding. One of the main discs has a wheel-like device with a crown and a series of initials between the spokes - H A e Ca [R]. The other main disc has suffered more corrosion but shows a shield and probably a version of the company's heraldry - the arms of England and Scotland joined together and with a fish to the right at the top, all over a large globe.
