Object type: PERFORATED OBJECT
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Cheshire East
Workflow stage: Published Find published
Possible unfinished neolithic perforated object. Oval pebble of pale sedimentary rock with a generally rough surface although the surface around one of the attempted perforations appears to have been smoothed. There has been an attempt to perforate the stone through its centre from above and below by chipping and grinding. One of the hollows is 22mm in diameter and 20mm deep and is very polished inside indicating the use of a grinding stick and abrasive material, the other is rougher and measures c.25mm diameter and 12mm deep.
