A fine grained, dark grey, oval-ended sandstone, broken at one end, used as a whetstone. A cone shaped stone with 3 sides having flat surfaces that have been smoothed by wear, and show evidence of being used for sharpening blades. The back is slightly concave and rougher. The improvised use of various stones from glacial drift for sharpening or rubbing stones is characteristic of the Roman and early Medieval periods until the Viking Age, when Scandinavian stones from the Telemark region became widely available. A rounded secondary chert scraper. Golden orange/brown in colour and semi-translucent. The chert is slightly concave in section with one mesal edge having short, parallel flaking with semi-abrupt retouch along the length of the edge. The other mesal side edge has cortex remaining along the whole edge extending slightly over the proximal edge. The ventral surface has a low bulb of percussion with conchoidal ripples extending outwards. Both the dorsal and ventral surfaces are smooth. Length 35mm, width 23mm and thickness 6mm. Weight 7.4 gm.

An incomplete lead-alloy toy or souvenir of Modern date (AD 1838-1911). The object is a miniature replica of the Coronation Chair, or St. Edward's Chair, in Westminster Abbey, which was commissioned by Edward I to contain the Stone of Scone. The object has moulded decoration, including lions at the base of the throne's legs (three are remaining) and quatrefoil and arched decoration on the sides. These small ceramic dolls were sold as childrens' toys, and were extremely popular in the mid to late 19th century, in both Britain and North America. Most were manufactured in Germany. A roughly crescent shaped secondary flake, mottled grey/brown in colour. The flake is probably formed on a piece of secondary debitage. There is around 70% cortex remaining on the dorsal side. The area of the flake covered in cortex has a sub-oval indentation measuring roughly 18mm x 8mm. The remaining area of the dorsal side is covered with extensive, scaled, low angle flaking, forming a side scraper on the left mesal. A probable microlith of Mesolithic date, 9000- 4000 BC. The flake is pale mottled grey in colour, and sub-rectangular in plan. There is a prominent bulb of percussion on the ventral face with ripples of percussion emanating from it. A chisel edge has been formed at the distal end with a tranchet blow, and there is abrupt retouch on the left mesal. The result is a Group B symetrical micro-tranchet of type Jacobi Class 5d.

The object is formed from a finely grained, dark grey stone, with a sub-ovate section and sub-rectangular form, with breaks to both ends. Cut marks are present, and two edges are worn smooth. The object is 82.4mm long, 46.5mm wide, 14.9 mm thick, and weighs 80.1gm. A cast white metal sheet button. The front face shows a fouled anchor while the reverse has no visible markings. This form of button was worn by the Kriegsmarine during the Second World War. The Kriegsmarine was the navy of Nazi Germany from 1935 - 1945. The button was found on the site of a former World War II Prisoner of War Camp. It is reported that crew members of captured German U-Boats were held on the camp. A similar object is recorded at HESH-4DE54A. Diameter: 21.0mm, Thickness: 3.7mm. Weight: 1.2gm.

A complete ceramic handle of early medieval date. The sherd is pale grey in colour where it was joined to the vessel, and oxidised to a darker grey on the outside. It has a sandy fabric with very rare sub-angular quartzite pebbles (c.0.25mm) and sparse shell inclusions (c.0.50mm). A number of other early-Medieval sherds are known from the site. A Prisoner of War plaque dating to the modern period, c AD1938-1945. The object is rectangular in plan with stamped lettering reading - R.M.C. W.D.
