County: Leicestershire

Early medieval silver penny, issued by Ceolnoth, Archbishop of Canterbury (833-70). Moneyers, either Biornmod, Swefherd or Wunhere. The coin is incomplete, due to a brittle, thin flan and post depositional damage which has resulted in the whole inscription being lost. Evidence of this is present in the form of a crack on the inside of the ring of pellets on the reverse. North242, BMC32.
