A medieval copper-alloy buckle frame and plate. The frame is oval and has an ornate outside edge, consisting of an expanded rectangular moulding with a transverse ridge in a slight constriction near either end, and a recessed groove forming a pin rest in the centre. The plate is rectangular but tapers slightly from the frame to the attachment end, where it has a copper alloy rivet in each corner. Sheet copper-alloy long rectangular buckle plate with two circular rivet holes at one end, and a deep pin slot and shallow frame recesses at the other. The plate is broken at the two hinge loops thus formed. It is decorated with an incised inscription within two horizontal panels, each with slightly uneven upper and lower grooved border. The inscription is the right way up when the hinge loops are to the right. It is poorly made and difficult to read; one of the images shows it turned into negative, where it is clearer.
