Description: A broken and incomplete silver medieval finger ring. The inside of the hoop is flat and undecorated. The outside of the hoop is bevelled to give a triangular cross-section, with two facets, each carrying a poorly engraved inscription. The lower half reads, in black-letter script: * ihesus nazaren... with a quatrefoil within a lozenge between the words. This is clearly the start of the inscription Ihesus Nazarenus or Jesus of Nazareth, with a small part of the ring missing. This half of the inscription is based on the outside of the ring, so it occupies the lower half. …
