A complete copper-alloy Roman contemporary copy of an as of Claudius, c. AD 41-54 (Reece Period 2). Reverse: S C, probably Minerva advancing right. The coin is extremely worn and corroded. Robert Kenyon, following on from the work by the French scholars P-A. Besombes and M. A Roman copper alloy coin; an as of Nero (AD 54 - 68), possibly a contemporary copy, dating from AD 64 onwards (Reece period 3). The reverse depicts Victory alighting, holding a shield, but there does not appears to be any reverse legend apart from SC. The obverse legend has some letters reversed and some upside down. Mint unknown. The reverse design is as on Sear Volume 1 number 1976. The coin is 28.9mm diameter, 3.3mm thick and 11.23g.
