A cast copper alloy repair from a vessel (pot mend), dating from the Roman to Medieval periods (43 - 1500 AD). One face of the pot med is sub rectangular with a smaller sub circular bar projecting from the centre. The mend measures 29mm in length. No fabric adheres to the mend to indicate what type of vessel it was used to repair. Pot mends of this form are found in both Roman and Medieval periods as a common way to repair broken pottery vessels. Without any remains of the pot it is impossible to date it more precisely.
