A cast copper-alloy zoomorphic mount in the shape of a bovine head, probably a vessel or bucket mount, dating from the Late Iron Age to early Roman period, c. 100 BC - c. AD 100. The mount is moulded in the round at the upper surface in the form of a bovine head, with two short upturned horns flanking a furry head and forehead; vague impressions corresponding to eyes and snout are visible, including raised undulating moulded lines giving the impression of fur along the entire face, forehead and head, continuing onto the upper portion of the back of the head on the mount's reverse. Iron age copper alloy decorative mount, c.45mm long and 35mm wide with a thickness of 2-3mm. The object is in good condition and weighs 17.82grams. The object is semi-circular in form with a triangular projection at one side and has a flat rectangular section. It is incomplete, with the now 'flat' edge to the right (as shown in the photo) being very irregular for most of its length, but with a definate flat edge on its upper quarter.
