Four copper alloy rings found together as a group in context. There are two larger and two smaller rings. One of the larger rings is broken and incomplete. One of the smaller rings is also incomplete and has part of an iron object still attached and iron corrosion adhering to the others suggests they were also linked by iron pieces. An incomplete copper alloy thistle headed torc of Iron Age dating (2nd Century BC to 1st Century AD). One terminal and part of the neck ring are present. The terminal is of the thistle head style, with a flat top. The terminal extends from the neck ring, first with a narrow collar (8.2 mm diameter), and then a wider swollen collar (4.6 mm long, 9.4 mm diameter), then a circular groove (8.9 mm diameter), before expanding outwards into a flat thistle head. Interim information on the hoard for the PAS & Treasure Annual Report launches in March 2020: This hoard comprises a copper alloy bowl, the fittings from a copper alloy bucket, and part of a clay pot. Buckets such as this one are usually found in high-status cremation graves from the mid-first century BC, alongside other pots, jugs and pans. These were drinking sets, used for serving mead, wine or beer at feasts. Perhaps the deceased hosted such feasts in life, or maybe this was a way for the living to share the funeral feast with them. A fragment of a copper alloy and iron Iron Age dagger (c.300-c.100 BC), consisting of part of the copper alloy hilt closest to the blade, a short length of the iron blade and part of the iron handle. It is missing most of its blade and hilt. Overall, the fragment measures 43.6mm long, 53.0mm wide and 17.1mm thick. It weighs 63.45g. The brooch is a La Tène D2 type (Mackreth Type 'D 1.a', Feugère 2b) with slightly expanded wire bow with lozenge-shaped cross-section, decorated on the front of the bow with vertical parallel lines. Cylindrical copper alloy ingot with circular cross-section. The object gently tapers from a wider end terminating in a flat angled surface to a rounded, slightly narrower, opposite end. On the wider end there is a small area of abrasion where material was removed for testing by a jeweller before the object was submitted as Treasure.
