A complete Medieval copper alloy casket key dating from the late 12th to early 14th century. It has a lozenge shaped bow with a circular central hole and a hollow oval cross sectioned shank. The bit is solid and broadly rectangular in form with an indent in the side closer to the terminal. The key measures 34.9mm in length, 13.5mm in width at the bow, 2.5mm in thickness and weighs 2.8g.
A similar example can be found in Read (2001:72) no. 558 which he dates to the late 12th to 14th century . Egan (1998: 111) comments that small, crude keys with circular bows and simple bits were …

A Medieval copper alloy simple small-sized casket key, dating to c. AD 1150 - 1400.
The key has an oval loop which has a collar at the join between it and the shank. The shank is sub-rectangular in cross section. The bit projects from the bottom of the shank at its end and is cleft on both sides by sub-rectangular recesses giving it an I shape in form.
The key is 37.4mm long, 14.4mm wide, 4.6mm thick and weighs 3.57 grams.

An incomplete copper alloy button of early modern date. The button bears the words 'RAILWAY POLICE' above and below the letter 'E & G'. This button is probably from the uniform of a member of the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway Police, which were operational in 1847 until they were absorbed by the North British Railway in 1865. Why this button should be so far from home is unknown.
The reverse of the button bears the slogan 'EXTRA SUPERFINE : BEST QUALITY'. There is no indication of the name or address of the manufacturer, which is often seen on later 19th century buttons. The fasten…

An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman Polden HIll style brooch, dating from c. AD 80-120. The brooch retains both wings which terminate in end caps, pierced to take the spring axis bar. The pin is broken and missing. The bow is angular in form with a rectangular recess at the top of the bow which whould have contained enamelling, but this is now missing. The foot of the brooch terminates in a rounded, expanded knop and the catch plate is intact.

An incomplete Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) copper-alloy disc brooch dating from c. AD 450-550. The brooch is flat and circular with some evidence of white metal on the outer surface. The outer edge has two small recesses in line where the hinge and catch plate are, possibly from use after the original lug broke There is a pierced sub oval hole at 5 o clock on the face side. The hinge plate is broken but still exists and catch plate is still complete and in place but the pin is missing. The brooch has a mottled dull green patina.

A copper-alloy harness pendant dating to the Medieval period (c. AD 1200-1400). The pendant is shield shaped with an integral loop attached to the top edge of the shield. The front of the pendant has been decorated with red enamel, and the design depicts 'gules, three lions rampant (argent)'. This show allegiance to the English crown, rather than the harness pendent belonging to the King or one of his retainers. The three lions was a common symbol of allegiance during the medieval period. The reverse is plain and has no trace of enamelling, It has an olive green patina.

A complete gold medieval finger ring with seal intaglio and inscription. The finger ring has a plain oval loop, D-shaped in section (more angular near the bezel) with an oval bezel set within the arms of the hoop. The bezel has a bevelled edge and an blue / black glass (?) intaglio within. A copper alloy, farthing trade token from Oxfordshire by Humphry Bodicott c. AD 1652-1660. Obverse with a vintner's bush and HVMPHRY BODICOTT. Reverse has three tuns to centre field and VINTENER IN OXON. The coin has a dark green patina with some surface erosion. Bodicott was a Vintner and landlord of The Three Tuns public house in Oxford near All Souls College. Bodicott died in AD 1660. Norweb no. 3683a-3684b. Leeds 27. An incomplete and distorted copper alloy hinged Colchester type one-piece brooch, dating from the Late Iron Age to early Roman period (c. AD 25-60). There is no covering to the spring of 8 coils which is still held in place by both the axis bar and rear facing hook. A possibly silver, rat-tail Hanoverian type bowl spoon with an Old English style handle, with a turned down top c. 1710 - 1830 AD. The reverse of the spoon handle has a crest consisting of an engraved "lion statant" on a rope/cable. A cast copper alloy Post Medieval strap fitting or harness mount, c. 1600-1800 AD. The mount has a modestly raised convex surface with the corresponding convex back. Broadly rectangular with three lobbed sections. The central lobe is plain with the outer lobes having cast floral, or curvy linear mouldings. Each end then has a centrally extended knop. There are the remnants of three rectangular cross section fixing spikes. The surface has a mid to dark green patina. See SUSS-0B70C4 .
