A complete Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age perforated object, probably an axe hammer dating from c. 2500-1500BC. The axe hammer was fabricated from an unidentified igneous rock. In plan, the axe hammer is broadly drop shaped, with a circular perforation towards the butt. The perforation has curved sides and the circumference reduces towards its centrepoint - it is hour glass shaped. The pierced sides of the axe hammer are largely flattened although there is a marked incline around the area of the socket and the butt. An incomplete copper alloy Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth 2011, Part 3, Group 4.l.c), subtype. Dating from the Roman period, 120-200. The brooch has a horizontal crossbar attached to the head. An arched bow runs from the head towards the foot (which is missing). Incomplete base from a copper-alloy box originally housing a set of medieval nested cup weights. The object has a circular (although incomplete) rim, tapering sides and a flat circular base. On opposite points of the outside of the rim are two parallel lugs orientated vertically. These are all broken, with old breaks and rounded edges, although one has a small notch in it showing that they were originally pierced. A fragment of a decorated copper alloy horse harness fitting, probably a harness mount. In profile the fragment is gently curved across its longer axis rather than being entirely flat. The fragment includes portions of two adjoining curved edges of the harness fitting, one concave and one convex. On the reverse of the fitting, near to the broadly right angled corner that is the junction between two broken sides, there is a slightly raised area, approximately 3 mm2, of unclear shape.
