Cast copper-alloy strap-end. Early medieval (late Anglo-Saxon /Viking age, c. late 9th-11th century). Mass: 10.8g; length: 34.0mm; width: 19.3mm; thickness: 4.5mm. Tongue shaped in plan, with a solid end with three rivet holes for attachment (two of which are complete) and an openwork plate with six holes, orientated horizontally in pairs down the plate, and a central moulding near to the top. Thomas class E (2004, p. 1-2).

Circular in plan with a central hole and a flaring upper part consisting of two tapering projections, one of which is bent inwards. There is an incomplete knop at the base. Cast copper-alloy strap-end. Early Medieval (c.8th-10th C). Mass: 2.7g; length: 41.0 mm; width: 9.5 mm; thickness of plate at the centre: 1.7mm. The strap-end has an incomplete split end at the top, a convex-sided plate and a zoomorphic terminal. The front of the plate is decorated with a simple design, which is now rather unclear due to corrosion, although there is a semi-circle at the top. This is a Thomas Class A strap-end (see Late Anglo-Saxon and Viking-Age Strap Ends 750-1100, Part I, 2003, p.2). Thomas comments that the chronological limits of the class probably lie either side…

Cast copper-alloy headstud brooch. Roman, c.AD75-200. Mass: 6.7g; length: 31.9mm; width: 15.3mm; depth: 12.6mm. The brooch is T-shaped in plan with a broken headloop. The brooch is broken at the foot and the catchplate is missing from the reverse. The brooch is hinged, but the pin is missing. There is a stepped design on the front of the side-wings and a raised headstud. The front of the bow is decorated with reserved triangular and lozenge and shaped cells.

Cast copper-alloy heraldic mount. Medieval, c.13th - 14th century. The mount is shield-shaped with the broken stub of an integral pin on the reverse. Mass: 11.8g; length: 38.8mm; width: 31.6mm. The blazon on the front of the mount consists of three chevrons, which are reserved but no traces of enamelling remain. Possibly de Clare. Griffiths comments that shields with a pin or stud averaging 30-70mm, "may have served many purposes; the famous Trumpington brass, of the early fourteenth century, shows the family arms repeated four times along the sword scabbard. Cast-copper alloy bow fragment of a Hod Hill brooch. Roman period (c.AD43-75). Mass: 2.9g, length: 34.5mm, width: 9.7mm, depth: 7.5mm. The upper portion of the bow is gently curved in profile, with vertical grooves running down the front. The lower portion of the bow tapers to the foot, and has a straighter rearward sloping profile. Copper-alloy thimble. Late medieval (c.1350-1500). The thimble is dome shaped with a conical top, which is partially incomplete on one side. Length: 25.7mm, external diameter: 22.3mm at the base, mass: 10.9g. On the exterior of the thimble there are a series of circular drilled or punched indentations. These are arranged broadly vertically on the sides of the thimble and broadly concentrically towards the top. A linear groove runs around the exterior of the thimble, near to the base. The spoon bowl is pear shaped in plan, with a broken stem at the narrow end and a green pitted surface. Cf. Crummy, 1983, p. 69 (number 2012). Citing Waugh and Goodburn (1972, 124), Crummy comments that this type appears to have been in production by the first half of the 2nd C AD (ibid.)

Copper-alloy hooked clasp (dress hook). Post-medieval (c. 16th century). Mass: 1.7g, length: 20mm (including pin), width: 15.3mm, depth: 9 mm. Composite construction (sheeting and wire). The front consists of a trefoil of hollow domed bosses with a laterally projecting but largely incomplete border. A separate rivet pierces an incomplete rove (imitating a rose) and the pin at the back. The pin is complete, but broken from the mount at the rivet. The hooked clasp is very similar to number 243 in: "Hooked-Clasps & Eyes", Read, 2008, p.74, which Read dates to circa. 16th century.
