Object type: JETTON
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Northamptonshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A rose and orb jetton dating from c.1500-1585. Probably one of type 1227 - 1283 from Mitchiner's 'Jeton, Medalets and Tokens: The Medieval Period and Nuremberg' Volume One, pages 381-386. A five petalled rose is surrounded by three crowns alternating with three fleur-de-lis. The spikes of the crowns are finished with annulets. A line divides this design from the inscription.
On the reverse face, a cross is surrounded by an ornamental tressure. The space between each point of the tressure and the inner circle line contains two annulets. The inscription is illegible.

Object type: BUCKLE
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Northamptonshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
An incomplete belt buckle, late Roman in date (4th century). The edge that would have attached to the strap bar has three evenly spaced slots along it. The plate itself is incomplete, but there would have been at least 4 cells divided by moulded columns. Above these cells are four circular holes, and above the outer of these holes are two smaller holes. The bottom edge of the plate is missing, and the entirety of the fragments has a rough green corrosion product on the surface (?bronze disease).
