The front has a narrow raised border round the edge outlining a recessed area in the centre of the plate containg 9 raised circular 'nails'; five running down the centre and pairs to either side in the wider parts at the 'heel' and 'ball'. There is no evidence of enamel in this recessed area although parallels suggest it would have contained it. An incomplete small circular loop extends …

Cast copper alloy bracelet, possibly of Roman date or possibly Post Medieval. It is a thin bad rectangular in section with a moulded outer side. The moulding is worn but appears to be annulets containing small pellets or possibly flowers with opellet centre interspersed with raised lines with might be leaves. It has broken at one point and is now distorted. The current length of the bracelet is: 67.5mm, current width: 47.1mm, metal thickness: 1.9mm, cross section: 3mm and it weighs 5.22g. A broken fragment from an uncertain artefact consisting of a cast copper-alloy loop from the side of which emerges a sleeve containing an iron shank. The loop is broadly of oval form with a flattened end opposite the shank. It features a broadly oval perforation measuring 8.1 by 6.5mm. The sleeve is off centre and split as a result of old damage and corrosion to the iron shank. The corroded iron extends no further than the longest fragment of sleeve. The copper-alloy is a variable green colour with some areas of surface surviving between quite corroded lighter areas. The construc…

Roman cast copper-alloy Colchester derivative Dolphin type brooch with hinged pin dating to c. AD 55-100. The brooch has a cylindrical head with open ends to the wings and slightly expanded terminals, a copper alloy spindle for the hinge runs through from end to end. One terminal is broken but both wings appear to be decorated with at least six narrow raised collars the same size as the terminals, arranged a…
