Post Medieval copper alloy buckle frame dating to the period cAD1550 - 1650. The double oval looped frame has a moulded shell like knop in the centre of each loop and a small knop at each end of the narrowed strap bar. The shell shaped knops have convex curved outer edges and converge to an inner point that projects into the loop slightly. The S shaped fitting has a naturalistically modelled reptilian or bird like head at both ends, a double bar running around the middle of the fitting in low relief with further curvilinear features to either side; the details of which are worn. Part of a possibly Medieval to Post Medieval copper alloy stud. It has a damaged domed circular head, with a convx top and concave back. There are six incised lines branching from the centre that divide the flower shape into equal segments/petals, with traces of gilding in the incisions. The bowl of a post-medieval clay tobacco pipe broken at its junction with the stem. The bowl is swollen, convex curved between the mouth and heel on both sides and projects out over the heel. The mouth is parallel to the stem. The sub-oval flat heel projects only a little from the base of the bowl and is wider and longer than the base, starting level with the stem. A post medieval clay tobacco pipe dating to the period c AD1680 to 1720. Most of the bowl is missing but the heel is stamped with the makers mark: WILL/ PITCH/ER in three lines within a pellet circle. The stem is broken at an old break. The pipe measures 51.3mm in length, 14.7 in width and weighs 6.37g. William Pitcher is listed as a maker from Beaminster in Dorset active c.1700 (Oswald 1975 p167).
