A worn and corroded small cast lead weight in the shape of a frustum, or truncated cone. It is broadly trapezoidal in cross-section, with a flat base. It has a hole running right through its centre; the hole tapers slightly towards the top which has been flattened slightly at an angle: Dia.: 8.3 - 7.0mm. The artefact now has an off-white surface with denting all over, especially to the base. Such objects are undiagnostic and a wide date range is here given.

Cast lead piece, probably a plain weight.. It is conical with a circular base, tapering sides and an irregular, broken top. There are numerous cuts and indents in the side. It is 49.8mm tall, 23.3mm in diameter at the base; it weighs 96 grams. Plain lead weights were made locally for a wide range of uses. They are therefore hard to date accurately and can be Roman - Post Medieval in date although most are from the latter part of this range.

Cast lead piece, probably a plain weight.. It is sub oval in plan with slightly irregular outline; a flat base and a domed top with a flattened, rough area in the centre. There are numerous cuts and indents on the base and sides. It is 51.7mm long, 36.8mm wide, 17.5mm thick and weighs 179 grams. Plain lead weights were made locally for a wide range of uses. They are therefore hard to date accurately and can be Roman - Post Medieval in date although most are from the latter part of this range.

There are stamped symbols on the front face which are At 12 o'clock, a sword, representing i St.Paul meaning it was made in London. A cast copper-alloy circular trade weight of probable Medieval date (1400-1500). The weight is flat and the front face has an incuse crown close to the centre. It has a circumferential groove near the edge. The sides are vertical and the rear face has numerous multi-directional file marks. This weight has a mid-green patina and is corroded in places. A corroded lead weight, or possible spindle whorl, of uncertain date. The object is roughly spherical, with flattened top and bottom and with a slight carination around the centre. It has a circular hole running through the centre. It is 21.7mm in diameter, 15.8mm tall with a hole 5.0mm in diameter at the base and slightly splaying open at the top; it weighs 27.72 grams. Plain spindle whorls and weights were cast locally in lead from the Roman period onwards and are hard to date precisely although most are late medieval/post medieval.

A corroded cast lead object - possibly a 'homemade' Roman weight. The object is broadly teardrop shaped with a rounded end. It tapers towards the other end which features a crude transverse groove, possibly for suspension. One surface is domed while the other is flat; the object has a semicircular cross-section. The surface is now a light-grey/white colour with numerous scratches and dents. This object's current mass bears no clear relationship to the Roman weight-system, but was found in the vicinity of Roman steelyard weights.

A circular cast lead alloy weight of uncertain date with a trapezoidal cross section. A 'D' is stamped on one face and there is an incised line on the other. It is 23.8mm in diametre, 6.6mm in thicknes and weighs 27.82g. 0.98 ounces. Plain weights were cast locally in lead from the Roman period onwards for a wide variety of uses and are hard to date precisely. This example is about an ounce in the avoirdupois system in use since the Medieval period suggesting a late Medieval - Post Medieval date.

Post Medieval copper alloy trade weight from a stacking set of the reign of Elizabeth I (1558-1603). The weight is circular and flat on both faces with straight sides. The top has a circular indent at the centre and is stamped with a crowned EL at 5 o'clock. It is 15.4mm in diameter and 2.0mm thick; it weighs 2.62 grams ( 0.09 oz probably originally 1/8oz). A flat circular lead weight of uncertain date, possibly Post Medieval. There is evidence of a fold across the centre and a tear in the edge at one end of the fold. There is a small square hole through the weight, slightly off ceentre. There appears to be a scratched design on both sides of the weight but this is obscured by the large number of indents, probably from damage, on both faces. The scratched designs maybe of a square on one face and lines radiating out from the hole on the other. It is now 30.8mm by 28.3mm, 3.3mm thick and it weighs 15.80grams.
