A copper-alloy late medieval or post medieval fragment of vessel repair or handle attachment. The piece is roughly rectangular in shape, though with one edge expanding in a curve, and consists of two metal sheets riveted together. Both sheets have been cut to the same shape. though one has lost about a third compared to the other. The sheets are connected by two rolled copper-alloy sheet rivets; this would have been three when the borken sheet was complete. The rivets have been pushed through from one side and is flattened and smoothed on the other, flush with the sheet. They were pro…

A cast copper-alloy spout possibly from a tap or a ewer of later medieval or post-medieval date. The hollow spout is tubular, curving gradually, with a transverse ridge on the upper surface, running across half of the spout. One face of the ridge has a rough edge and probably the ridge indicated where it was joined to the vessel. The copper alloy now has a light green patina interspersed with black. From the ridge the spout narrows to a circular sectioned mouth at one side and probably a similar mouth at the other side, now damaged. There are numerous closely spaced file marks across …

Part of an unidentified copper-alloy object. The remaining piece has a side bar 51.5mm long, with a rectangular cross section and a terminal in the form of a two-lobed fleur; projecting from beneath this fleur, and on the same plane, is the remnant of a sub-trapezoidal element, measuring 16.9mm long and with an uneven bottom edge which suggests the former existence of openwork decoration. The object is 4mm thick and weighs 12.4g. It is similar in form to the 17th century double-loop trapezoid buckles with openwork decoration, but appears too large for this use and may therefore be a c…
