Cast copper alloy handle for a folding knife. The handle is curved, circular in section and tapers from the end which was attached to the knife blade to a blunt point at the other end, with a rounded knop. There is a collar around the other end with a spherical knop projecting from its outer side and two other spherical knops evenly spaced along the outer edge. Next to the collar the bar is much wider and has a central slot for the knife. There is a rivet hole through the metal, with an iron rivet through it creating a hinge for the knife. An end scraper. There is long, parallel, abrupt retouch around the proximal end on the ventral face, removing the striking platform. There may also have been very short, abrupt retouch on the distal end to produce an irregular outline, although this may also be due to natural fracture when the flake was sruck from the core. Unlike with thumbnail or round scrapers the retouch covers only a small part of the circumference. The scraper was made on a secondary flake, c.5% cortex remains, with a prominent bulb of percussion. Post Medieval copper alloy token farthing minted for William Smith of Steyning, Sussex in 1667. Williamson Vol 3. p.1182, Sussex No.165. William Smith was a mercer. There is a reference, in Sussex Archaeological Collections 19 p.95, to a William Smith of Steyning who had an estate worth £20 seized by parliment in 1655 because the owner was either a Royalist or a Catholic (the ordnance covered both). This may or may not be the same person as issued the tokens but Williamson suggests it is.

A copper-alloy Roman sandal-sole type plate brooch, probably dating from the 2nd century AD. The plate is flat on top and takes the form of the sole of a sandal with a rounded heel and pointed toe. The front has a narrow raised border round the edge outlining a recessed area in the centre of the plate containg 9 raised circular 'nails'; five running down the centre and pairs to either side in the wider parts at the 'heel' and 'ball'. A broken cast copper-alloy pin with spherical filigree head of early post-medieval date (c. 16th century AD). The pin shaft is circular in cross section with a spherical knop at one end which projects just beyond the pin head. The other end is bent through 45 degrees and broken just below the head. The remainer is 22.1mm long by 1.9mm in diameter. The whole piece weighs 1.94 grams. The head is unusual, in that, unlike other similar examples e.g.HAMP-A136D5, it is hollow with no central ball onto which the filigree was applied. An incomplete Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) cast copper-alloy strap-end, dating from the 9th century. This is an example of a Thomas Class A strap-end, with a split end, outward bowing sides, and probably a zoomorphic terminal, which has subsequently been lost, along with some of the tapering strap-end body (cf. Thomas 2003, Datasheet 32). The split end has a central notch which creates a bi-lobed edge. Two silvered circular rivets fit at the split end, one in each lobe. Medieval copper alloy coin weight for an Ecu a la chaise. It is square and unifaced, on the obverse is a square topped shield containing three Lis, the reverse is plain. It is 14.0 by 12.9mm and 3.2mm thick; it weighs 4.05g. This is lighter than the standard weight for an Ecu a la chaise but this is to be expected as a coin weights, are for the legal minimum rather than the average weight of a coin. Some weight may also have been lost to corrosion. This sort of weight was made in France and England between 1337-51 AD (Withers & Withers 1995, 39).
