A very corroded iron nail with abraded sub-rectangular head plausibly of Roman date. The stem is square in cross-section, abraded at its tip, seemingly broken. It is off centre on the head, but was presumably central. Iron nails are difficult to date but given the range of Roman material from the vicinity this nail could be classified as being of Manning's (1985, 134) Type 1B.
