The handle is curved, circular in section and tapers from the end which was attached to the knife blade to a blunt point at the other end, with a rounded knop. There is a collar around the other end with a spherical knop projecting from its outer side and two other spherical knops evenly spaced along the outer edge. An end scraper. There is long, parallel, abrupt retouch around the proximal end on the ventral face, removing the striking platform. There may also have been very short, abrupt retouch on the distal end to produce an irregular outline, although this may also be due to natural fracture when the flake was sruck from the core. A solid copper-alloy late Iron Age or Roman head of a sheep, ram or possibly goat from a mount or figurine. The head is cast in three dimensions and is triangular in shape with one horn each side. The head measures 18.7mm in length from the top to the end of the nose; it is 9.8mm thick and 12.4 mm wide at the widest point, 24.7mm wide including the horns. A large lump of copper, it's rounded appearence suggests it has cooled from molton metal in a crucible or other mould. One side is almost flat, the top is domed and the sides rounded, it may originally have been oval as it appears to have been cut on one face, the cut is now worn. Post Medieval copper alloy token farthing minted for William Smith of Steyning, Sussex in 1667. Williamson Vol 3. p.1182, Sussex No.165. William Smith was a mercer. There is a reference, in Sussex Archaeological Collections 19 p.95, to a William Smith of Steyning who had an estate worth £20 seized by parliment in 1655 because the owner was either a Royalist or a Catholic (the ordnance covered both). This may or may not be the same person as issued the tokens but Williamson suggests it is.

A broken cast copper-alloy pin with spherical filigree head of early post-medieval date (c. 16th century AD). The pin shaft is circular in cross section with a spherical knop at one end which projects just beyond the pin head. The other end is bent through 45 degrees and broken just below the head. An incomplete Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) cast copper-alloy strap-end, dating from the 9th century. This is an example of a Thomas Class A strap-end, with a split end, outward bowing sides, and probably a zoomorphic terminal, which has subsequently been lost, along with some of the tapering strap-end body (cf. A Medieval cast copper-alloy bow of a rotary key. The bow is lozenge-shaped with a knop on the top corner. The inner side is stepped in several places giving a slightly cruciform shape. The stem of the key is broken just below the a moulding or collar below the bow. The stem is circular in cross-section and probably drilled. Cast lead vessel repair (pot mend). Oval with two irregularly shaped outer sides joined by a smaller central section. In the groove created between the outer sides there are traces of the original pot. The pottery appears to be of sandy dark orange fabric. It is 36.8 mm by 32.6mm, 10.2 mm thick and weighs 48.07 g. Pot mends of this form are found in both Roman and Medieval periods, as a common way to repair broken pottery. The remains of the original pot seem to be Roman in date although it is too fragmentary to be completely certain.

A cast lead-alloy circular uni-faced token with three visible casting spruces at the cardinal points. The token has a raised design of the initial 'E' on one side, the other side is blank. It is 21.20mm in diameter, 1.85 mm thick and weighs 4.8 grams. Lead tokens were locally made and had a wide variety of uses; they are therefore hard to date precisely but those with initials are thought to be Post Medieval in date, 1500-1850 AD.

Medieval to Post Medieval cast lead alloy circular unifaced token (1250-1850 AD). The token has been cast with a raised design of a equal arm cross on the obverse and a flat, undecorated reverse. The token measures 15.8mm in diameter, 1.2mm thick and weighs 1.80 grams. The edges are starting to laminate and crumble away suggesting it has a higher tin content than usual. Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally; they are therefore hard to date precisely and could be Medieval or Post Medieval in date (1250-1850 AD).

Cast lead alloy decorated spindle whorl. The whorl is circular with a flat base and domed top, slightly flattened in the centre, and a circular hole running through the centre. The upper side is decorated with raised lines radiating out from the central hole, these are thought to help the spindle work as well as be decorative. It is 32.7 mm in diameter and 11.6 mm thick; weights 52.5 grams. Locally cast lead spindle whorls were in use from the Roman to Post Medieval period and are hard to date precisely.

Medieval copper alloy coin weight for an Ecu a la chaise. It is square and unifaced, on the obverse is a square topped shield containing three Lis, the reverse is plain. It is 14.0 by 12.9mm and 3.2mm thick; it weighs 4.05g. This is lighter than the standard weight for an Ecu a la chaise but this is to be expected as a coin weights, are for the legal minimum rather than the average weight of a coin. Some weight may also have been lost to corrosion. This sort of weight was made in France and England between 1337-51 AD (Withers & Withers 1995, 39).

Post Medieval cast lead alloy circular uni-faced token, 1500-1850 AD. The token has a raised design on one side of the initials J and F seperated by a raised pellet with 12 above and possibly bls (or s19 upside down) below. The reverse is blank. The token measures 19.9mm in diameter, 3.1mm thick, and weighs 7.66 grams. Lead tokens were locally made and had a wide variety of uses; they are therefore hard to date precisely but those with initals are thought to be Post Medieval in date. Cast copper alloy hooked clasp with openwork design. This is the hooked section of a two part clasp. The main plate is heart shaped with a trefoil opening in the centre. At the top projects a rounded knop containing the residue of an iron rivet in the centre. The lower point of the heart extends downwards and continues into a forward facing blunt hook. Lozenge shaped cast copper alloy terminal from a larger item. It is oval in section with rounded edges and slightly convex upper and lower faces. At one end the piece comes to a point, at the other it ends in an old break, 4.9mm across. There is an indent in the centre of one side next to the break, this may be deliberate or damage. Length 25.8mm, width 10.8mm, thickness 3.4mm. Weight 3.56 grams. Such a small peice could be a componant of many different objects including pendants, strap fittings and implements.

The outer side is divided into three main zones by longitudinal grooves. The central zone is plain but corroded. Medieval cast copper alloy single looped buckle frame with pin. The buckle is rectangular with rounded corners. It is highly corroded and any surface decoration has been lost. The loop of the iron pin has corroded in place at one end of the pin bar. A similar buckle can be found illustrated in Whitehead (1996, 26; ref. 126) which he dates to c1300-1500 AD.

Two copper alloy rings, formed of a double loop of square sectioned wire the ends and middle of which are attached to each other and to the top of a knop. The knop has a circular top to which the wire is attached below which is a constriction then a oval terminal. An incomplete lead-alloy piece of uncertain date: probably a piece of casting waste. It is a strip, triangular in section with very concave sides. One end is rounded the other has an old, almost square break. The lower side is slightly irregular. Emerging from the spine on the upper surface are six pellets spaced equally along its length. These extend down the sides and have all been truncated, with old breaks. They could be sprues from the casting process. It is 40.1mm long, 13.2mm wide, 4.8mm thick and weighs 8.40 grams.

The strap bar is completely obscured by the iron plate which has traces of a pin slot on the back and seems to have been the strap plate.
