A copper alloy damaged handle escutcheon from a Medieval or Post Medieval chafing dish, dating from about AD 1400 - 1600. The lug is 28.8mm long, 17.1mm wide and 7.1mm thick. It is a flat plate of metal which is uniformly 7.1mm thick. It is a sub-circular fitting with a sub-circular hole in it which has broken making it look like a hook. From one end projects a sub-triangular element which would have probably butted up against the vessel. A probable Medieval Irish silver coin: probably a penny of Edward IV (1461-1483); probably minted in Dublin. The coin is clipped and worn. The obverse shows a mullet to the right of the crown and indistinct symbols on each side of the neck. The reverse shows a long cross with a quatrefoil with a pellet in the centre and three pellets in each angle.The coin may well be a contemporary copy because the reverse legend looks to be a series of Vs and As or Ds rather than a normal legend. An Early Medieval cloisonné disc brooch of 10th to 11th century date. The circular brooch has 7 evenly spaced semi-circular lobes projecting around the edge. They are decorated with a spherical bead of blue glass on each, some surrounded by a ring of white probably corrosion product. The centre of the brooch is decorated with a floral motif of interlocking wire cells filled with enamel. An enamelled copper alloy disc or plaque, decorated with a picture of a woman's face and a incomplete border of pale blue enamel with the remains of some gilding. It is probably of Medieval date, about AD 1100 - 1300, based on the similarity of style to Limoges and Mosan champlevé enamel work of that period. The human head is forward facing and is enamelled in white with metal defining the eyes and nose. A copper alloy artefact, probably a coin of Medieval or Post Medieval date, about AD 1200 - 1500, probably of the Crusader Kingdom of Cyprus, maybe of James II dating from the late 15th century. One face bears a cross potent with a cross in each angle (the Jerusulem cross). The peripheral legend is illegible. The other face is possibly a rampant lion. A copper alloy artefact, probably a strap fitting such as a strap union, or perhaps a harness fitting or mount. It probably dates from the Iron Age or Roman period, about 800 BC - AD 100. The object is incomplete, but appears to have been symetrical. It consists of a pair of opposed triangular loops, both springing from a central block. A copper alloy possible Roman crenellated bracelet dating from about AD 250 - 400. It is a thin strip of copper alloy, rectangular in cross-section, and slightly bent, tapering at both ends. It has scalloped shaping, or five wide lobes along one edge and the other edge is straight but bending in a slight concave shape. These lobes could be the worn remains of crenellations. The object has a smooth green patina, flaked off in places. The object is 58.6mm long, 3.3mm wide and 0.9mm thick. It weighs 0.73g. The handle is curved, circular in section and tapers from the end which was attached to the knife blade to a blunt point at the other end, with a rounded knop.
