A cast copper-alloy double-looped buckle frame of medieval to early post-medieval date. The frame is formed of two conjoined ovals such that the sides incurve. The frame is bevelled both internally and externally on the upper surface, the latter more shallowly; the lower surface is flat. The pin bar thus has a trapezoidal cross-section, it is bent upwards slightly. The pin is missing.

Incomplete cast copper alloy medieval or post medieval double loop buckle frame. 23.7mm long, 23.9mm wide, 1.7mm thick and 1.6 grams in weight. About 70% of loop has gone from old breaks. The other is D shaped in profile with an expanded outer edge. The centre bar is 12.5mm long and 1.8mm wide. This buckle is of a very simple design making dating difficult; a date of 1350-1720 is suggested based on Whitehead (2003) page 52.

Incomplete cast copper alloy post medieval double loop buckle frame. 28.3mm long, 27.1mm wide, 2.5mm thick and 3.4 grams in weight. One loop has gone almost completely from old breaks. The other is D shaped in profile with an expanded outer edge and a central pair of projecting lips forming a pin rest. The centre bar is recessed and narrowed, there are projecting knobs at both ends, outlined by grooves across the frame. Similar to Whitehead (2003) page 61, no 306 hence a date of c.1550-1650 is suggested.

Cast copper alloy post medieval rectangular shoe buckle with seperate spindle. 17.5mm long, 13.1mm wide, 3.5mm thick and 2.2 grams in weight. The frame is rectangular and slightly curved upwards, with outer sides that expand inwards slightly, these widened areas have no visible pin rests but the triangular pin is still cemented to one of them. Cast copper alloy medieval single-loop rectangular framed buckle with integral plate. The buckle measures 31.3mm by 21.3mm, is 2.6mm thick and weighs 5.9grams. A cast copper-alloy single loop oval buckle frame with an ornate outer edge, dating from c. 1200-1400. The outer edge has two prominent, lobed knops flanking three transverse grooves moulded on the front, the back is plain and flat. It has a narrowed, offset strap bar and a dark green patina. The pin and plate are missing. It is 17.1mm long, 20.9mm wide, and 4.6mm thick. It weighs 2.75gm. Egan and Pritchard (1991) illustrate very similar buckles e.g. p.73, No 299. They suggest this type dates to 1200-1400 AD (p.76).

The loop is widened and thickened towards the centre, oval in section with three, regularly spaced, oval expansions, a fourth is probably lost to the old break. The loop of the iron pin has corroded in place at one end of the pin bar. A similar buckle can be found illustrated in Whitehead (1996, 26; ref. 126) which he dates to c1300-1500 AD.

Medieval or Post Medieval cast copper alloy double loop buckle with the remains of an iron plate attached. The loops are oval, with widened outer edges which are bevelled on the front and back. The strap bar is completely obscured by the iron plate which has traces of a pin slot on the back and seems to have been the strap plate. It is 29.6mm long, 24.1mm wide and 3.5mm thick; it weighs 8.25 grams. Whitehead (2003: 53) illustrates a similar buckle, no.293, which he dates to c,1350-1650 AD.

The frame has two oval loops which are triangular in section with a flat back and steeply angled inner side and more bevelled outer side. The pin is missing. The buckle has a red brown surface with areas of green corrosion. The frame is 21.6mm long, 17.3mm wide and 2.2mm thick. It weighs 1.81 grams. Such a simple buckle is hard to date precisely, Whitehead (2003) illustrates a similar buckle (page 53, No.294) which he dates to c.1350-1650 AD.
