Incomplete and probably Medieval lead seal matrix, probably originally circular, with a c.5mm diameter hole pierced close to one edge. It weighs 45.77g and measures 41.57x33.21x5.24mm. Its original diameter would have been circa 42mm. One side is smooth and plain while the other has the inscription [...]IMPER[...]L around the edge, with possibly a double-stranded cross at the centre (although only a very small part remains). Roman to Post Medieval (1st to 19th century) unidentified object: The artefact is a large lead oval ball with a flattened upper and lower edge with multiple, equi-distant six circular iron studs around the side, one iron stud on one flat surface and two on the lower face. The iron is in a stable condition and the lead has a matte light grey/cream coloured surface. It measures 43.69mm diameter, 28.41mm thick and weighs 230g. Cast lead vessel repair (pot mend). Oval with two irregularly shaped outer sides joined by a smaller central section. In the groove created between the outer sides there are traces of the original pot. The pottery appears to be of sandy dark orange fabric. It is 36.8 mm by 32.6mm, 10.2 mm thick and weighs 48.07 g. Pot mends of this form are found in both Roman and Medieval periods, as a common way to repair broken pottery. The remains of the original pot seem to be Roman in date although it is too fragmentary to be completely certain.

Cast lead piece, probably a plain weight.. It is conical with a circular base, tapering sides and an irregular, broken top. There are numerous cuts and indents in the side. It is 49.8mm tall, 23.3mm in diameter at the base; it weighs 96 grams. Plain lead weights were made locally for a wide range of uses. They are therefore hard to date accurately and can be Roman - Post Medieval in date although most are from the latter part of this range.

There are numerous cuts and indents on the base and sides. It is 51.7mm long, 36.8mm wide, 17.5mm thick and weighs 179 grams. Plain lead weights were made locally for a wide range of uses. They are therefore hard to date accurately and can be Roman - Post Medieval in date although most are from the latter part of this range.

Post Medieval - Modern cast lead two disc cloth seal. The disks sit one on top of the other and are joined by a tab. One had a hole in the centre and the other a projecting point which has been pushed through the hole and then stamped flat to fix them together. The tab is mostly missing from old breaks. The stamp has the initials R.W. The discs are bent and at most 27.4mm in diameter, 3.7mm thick and it weighs 14.22 grams. The simplcity of the design of initials rather than a privy mark suggests a later date, 17th-18th century (cf Egan p.84, no.234, 236 and p.86, no.242)

A circular cast lead alloy weight of uncertain date with a trapezoidal cross section. A 'D' is stamped on one face and there is an incised line on the other. It is 23.8mm in diametre, 6.6mm in thicknes and weighs 27.82g. 0.98 ounces. Plain weights were cast locally in lead from the Roman period onwards for a wide variety of uses and are hard to date precisely. This example is about an ounce in the avoirdupois system in use since the Medieval period suggesting a late Medieval - Post Medieval date.

Two circular cast lead alloy disc weights of uncertain date. Both weights have an incised cross with smaller diagonal lines projecting the same direction from each arm on one face, possibly representing windmill sails and an incised 'V' on the other. 1) 30.6mm in diameter, 3.9mm in thickness and 18.27g, 2) 28.6mm in diameter, 2.9mm in thickness and 13.44g. Post Medieval cast lead button with integral shank which is now broken. The button is circular with a slight projection at one edge producing a 'drop' shape. It has a slightly concave back and conical front, producing a broadly triangular cross section. The toy commences in an old break and is cylindrical with a hollow circular cross sectioned interior and a hexagonal external cross-section. A fired modern lead bullet. The cast lead bullet was probably originally of domed or pointed form with a hollow base, now mostly melted. The point has been flattened and the lower part of the bullet rolled/compressed upwards. The length is 13.6mm and width 18.8mm. The width of the top of the object is 11.2mm, suggesting its use for perhaps a 0.45 inch calibre weapon. There are two circumferential lines visible. Weight: 14.3grams​. A Post-Medieval lead cloth seal, probably dating to c. AD 1550-1800. The seal is incomplete, with only the integral rivet and an adjoining section of the disc from which it expands surviving. The surviving section of the disc depicts a design of an eagle or perhaps more likely, a griffin, advancing left, right foot in front with each talon terminating in a pellet. Most of the neck, loops and part of the body of the ampulla are missing with just a small part of the trapezoid neck and the stub of one loop remaining. The lower half is circular. In the groove created between the outer sides there are fragment of the original pot. The pottery has a bright orange fabric. The whole object measures 48.0mm long, 25.4mm wide and 12.4mm thick. It weighs 70.5g. Pot mends of this form are found in both Roman and Medieval periods, as a common way to repair broken pottery. The fabric appears similar to Medieval cooking pots although it is too fragmentary to be completely certain.
