An incomplete Post-Medieval copper alloy spoon, probably dating to the late 17th or 18th century. The surviving fragment comprises of the end of the spoon's handle. This is broadly piriform in shape, tapering from 12.9mm wide at its rounded shoulders to 4.1mm, where it terminates in a worn break. In profile the top edge of one face of the handle thickens pronouncedly above the widest point of the shoulders, from 1.4mm to 3.8mm, creating a lip with a concave curve below it. The remaining portion comprises the bowl and adjoining length of handle; any terminal knop to the handle is missing to an old, patinated break. The broken bowl from a cast copper-alloy 17th-century post-medieval spoon. The handle and the majority of the bowl are missing, both from old breaks. The handle is rectangular in cross-section; on the lower surface it tapers to a point at its junction with the bowl. The surviving section of the bowl is shallow and has been bent upwards at the extant terminal, with breaks to each side. There is evidence on the bowl for a circular makers mark, central on the upper surface, which is now unclear but possibly a (Tudor) rose (as with SOM-7C2A26 on this database). A damaged and incomplete cast copper-alloy post-medieval spoon consisting of most of the bowl and part of the handle (c. 17th century AD). Little of the handle now survives; the old break reveals a square cross-section. There is a concave depression on the lower surface at the junction of handle and bowl. The bowl was fig shaped but has suffered losses to one side and along the tip. It has a flattened rim all around. A Post-Medieval (c.1690-1715) apparently copper-alloy-covered lead-alloy spoon with a diamond shaped or 'dognose' terminal and oval bowl. It measures 190mm long, 45mm wide and 15mm in depth (the latter two measurements being at the bowl). The dognose terminal is plain and 26mm wide with rounded edges. The stem of the spoon is flat with chamfered edges, forming a sub-rectangular profile. It tapers to a rat-tail support on the back of the bowl which stretches for just under half the bowl's length. A late medieval to early post-medieval cast lead alloy maidenhead spoon knop. This is the decorative end of a spoon broken off the top of a spoons stem. The figure depicts the bust of a female. Folds on the side and back of the head suggest the figure is wearing a long headdress. At the base there appears to be foliate or fleur de lis projections, rising from the base part way up her torso, one at the centre of the front and one at the back. Part of the bowl from a lead-tin (pewter) spoon dating from c.1670 to the early 1700s. The bowl is oval in shape and is in a Queen Anne style with a feathered-like flower spray flanking the rat tail on the back. Only around three quarters of the bowl remains with a diagonal breakage across the width of the bowl, the stem is completely missing. It is now 68.1mm long, 49.6mm wide and weighs 28.69. Homer (1975, 44) illustrates base metal spoons with similar designs, which echo those on silver spoons of the same period, the late 17th and early 18th century.

A cast copper alloy spoon finial (length: 34mm; width at shoulders of blade: 13mm; thickness at shoulders of blade: 3mm; weight: 3.03g). Intregrally cast with the blade, the small handle/ end knob (length: 7mm) has bead, reel and spool mouldings.
