Incomplete post medieval copper alloy pastry jigger consiting of part of the central shaft and the cross bar forming the head. The shaft is is circular in cross-section at the apex and sub-triangular in cross-section where it joins the head. It swells gradually away from the head, reaching its maximum diameter at a point just below the apex. The head is flat. A total of 233 pieces of lead ball shot, brought in for recording in batches of 125, 91 and 17 respectively, but here amalgamated as from the same findspot. A large number (100) have a weight of 11g +/- 1.5g, with a second main group (31) around 32g +/- 1.5g. This suggests a predominant use of pistol shot, with a notable presence of musket shot according to the main calibre divisions (Foard and Morris 2012, 121). If Hardings (2012) wider brackets are used there are 120 of 7-16 grams interpreted as pistol and 43 of 30-48 grams. Equally notable is an absence of much shot of intermediate…

A cast lead-alloy cap from a post-medieval powder measure (c. 17th century). It has slightly flaring sides from open base to closed top, at one point now squashed inwards, with 40% of the side missing. The top is sub-circular with an irregular hole through it removing c.10%. Where the sides meet the top there are two attachment loops, one on each side, both squashed down slightly towards the sides. A seam is prominent on the side. A copper-alloy late medieval or post medieval fragment of vessel repair or handle attachment. The piece is roughly rectangular in shape, and consists of two metal sheets riveted together. One edge is complete on both sheets, another straight edge remains on one sheet (the inner sheet), meeting the first at a c.80 degree angle. The other edges are irregular and torn with old breaks. The bowl of a post-medieval clay tobacco pipe broken at its junction with the stem. The bowl is swollen, convex curved between the mouth and heel on both sides and projects out over the heel. The mouth is parallel to the stem. The sub-oval flat heel projects only a little from the base of the bowl and is wider and longer than the base, starting level with the stem. This large heel is stamped with the maker's mark, in this case the incuse letters GEO / WEBB / IN / CHARD within a stamped pellet border.
