Post Medieval lead cloth seal, of two disk type. Only one disk now survives with the projecting attachment on the back. The second disk and connecting strip has been lost or broken away and the break is worn. The front has a raised design of a large letter A flanked with annulets. There are the remains of a pellet border around the edge of the disk, very worn in places. It is 19.3mm by 18.5mm and 4.3mm thick; it weighs 5.63 grams. The rivet was attached to the back disc, projected through the front disc and was stamped flat, bending it to one side and leaving the tip projecting. The seal is now bent through the centre at 45 degrees and the edge of the lower seal is broken with about one tenth lost. A small part of the undamaged edge of the front seal shows a raised design with a pellet border around a plain line border and just below part of the border, three loops forming a bow. the design continues on the rivet, which is squashed and damaged by the fold and there appears to be the letters S W above the bow. The seal is of the two-disc type and one disc and the connecting rivet attached to it survive, although the other disc and the tab that previously linked the discs is missing. The remaining disc is stamped (offset) with the letters S W with a looped bow of four points between. Where visiable, there is a double border, one narrow, the outer wider and poelleted. The edge is broken and torn at one point where the connecting strip has broken away along with the second, ring shaped, disc, the damage is the same patina as the rest of the fragment. On the disc with the integral rivet is stamped the arms of Haarlam in the Netherlands on a shield, a vertical sword with a cross pattee avove and four stars arramged two each side. Above the shield is a six petalled flower made of pellets flanked by single pellets. A Post Medieval lead alloy cloth seal probably dating to c. AD 1500 - 1800. The seal consists of two discs joined by a connecting strip. There is an integral rivet on one disc pushed through a central hole on the other and with the two then stamped flat. A partial privy or merchant's mark is visible on the obverse, with a central longitudinal line flanked by the initials I D. The line is possibly topped by a transverse cross bar, although this is unclear, whilst at the base it splits to form a broad chevron, overlain by an opposed chevron creating the appearance of a pair of Xs. A worn and incomplete cast lead cloth (alnage) seal of post-medieval date. Only one of the possible pair (or more) of discs survives. In low relief it is inscribed with the following lettering: '4 (inverted)? II//I M'. The other surface is plain. The angular sides of the seal suggest that it may have been cut deliberately.
