Medieval (late 13th to 15th centuries) composite strap end: The strap end is a sub-rectangle in plan with one end being rounded and the other having a scalloped edge. The strap end is made up of two copper alloy sheets both of each are decorated with an inscised design. One face has a standing figure, holding a vertical staff or long sword. A copper alloy artefact, probably a coin of Medieval or Post Medieval date, about AD 1200 - 1500, probably of the Crusader Kingdom of Cyprus, maybe of James II dating from the late 15th century. One face bears a cross potent with a cross in each angle (the Jerusulem cross). The peripheral legend is illegible. The other face is possibly a rampant lion. The legend is again illegible, but may end GRAIA which would fit with a sizin such as that of James II (the Bastard), AD 1463 - 1473. The coin is 18.3mm in diameter and 1.4mm thick. It weighs 1.9g. One fragment of worn, sub-angular translucent crystalline calcite with flat cleavage planes visible on three axis and worn, smoothed, sides. Probably naturally formed: no evidence seen for artificial shaping. 29.1mm by 28.3mm by 20.2mm and 24.39g in weight. Although natural and potentially local as calcite does form in limestone the piece was picted out by the finder as unusual in the field. A Medieval cast copper-alloy pedestal type seal matrix dating to the 14th century. The matrix face is sub-circular. The pedestal is faceted with six facets and thins as it rises before it widens slightly to a collar topped by a rounded terminal. Below the collar is an incised transverse groove that emphasises the collar. Above the collar there is a flattened crescent, ends upwards, within which the terminal sits. Roman copper alloy figurine depicting the god Mars. The figurine shows a standing male with an helmet and short tunic. He has got a crest projecting out of the helmet c.1.4 mm in high and c.2.68mm in width. The crest runs along the centre across the top from his forehead and down the back of the helmet ending just before the neck, the crest is very worn and originally more prominent. The central strap bar is narrowed with a small moulded knop at either end. The pin is missing. The front of the frame has bevelled edges and the back is flat and undecorated.
